Head of Primary Message Week 15

As we embark on this new academic term, we are thrilled to reconnect with our returning families and extend a warm welcome to those joining the ISB school community for the first time.

At ISB, we are committed to fostering a positive and enriching learning culture that empowers students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We believe that a collaborative partnership between school and home is key to a child's success, and we are excited to continue building on the strong foundation we have created together.

Here are some highlights of the positive learning culture we have cultivated at ISB:

  1. Inclusive Community: Our school is a diverse and inclusive community where every student is valued and respected. We celebrate differences and encourage a sense of belonging for all, creating an environment where everyone feels safe to express themselves and learn from one another.

  2. Passionate Educators: Our dedicated team of educators is committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment. They bring passion, expertise, and innovative teaching methods to the classroom, inspiring students to explore, question, and discover their full potential.

  3. Holistic Learning: Beyond academic excellence, we focus on the holistic development of each child. Our curriculum is designed to nurture not only intellectual growth but also social skills, emotional intelligence, and physical well-being. We believe in educating the whole child.

  4. Engaging Programmes and Activities: Throughout the year, we offer a wide range of Extra Curricular Activities (ECAs), events, and programs that enhance the overall learning experience. These opportunities contribute to a vibrant and dynamic school life.

  5. Open Communication: We believe in the importance of open communication between parents, teachers, and students. Regular updates, parent-teacher consultations, and events provide avenues for dialogue and collaboration, ensuring that everyone is well-informed and involved in the educational journey. Seesaw is our primary platform for communication and can be used to maintain positive communications.

As we look forward to the upcoming calendar year, we invite you to be actively engaged in your child's education. Your support, involvement, and enthusiasm make a significant impact on their learning experience. Thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of educating your child.

A special thank you to the parents of Year 5. Today, we hosted an event to share food and culture from a number of home and host countries. We shared a variety of plates and information to give a hands-on experience to all students. Thank you to all parents who planned, prepared and presented national dishes, without you the event could not have taken place.

We are delighted to share a comprehensive programme of Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) with the ISB community. ECAs provide an excellent opportunity for students to extend their experiences well beyond the classroom; to try something new, refine a talent, be part of a team, extend knowledge, compete or simply enjoy a passion project.

The ECA sign-up process will open at 4pm on Friday 5th January. ECAs will commence week beginning 15th January 2024. Please note that ECA selections will be confirmed in EduLink and by email.

Please note that the School Production will not be an option on the ECA sign-up form. We encourage all students to select their ECAs. If a student is then successful in the auditions, we will ask them to withdraw from any other ECAs which clash with production rehearsals (Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:15pm to 4:15pm). Those withdrawing from a paid ECA as a result of a successful audition will be refunded pro rata.

If your child is interested in being part of the school production this year, it is advisable to attend the 'read through' on Tuesday 16th January in the theatre 2:15pm - 4:15pm to find out more about the storyline and characters before the auditions. Primary audition will take place on Thursday 25th January 2:30pm - 6pm.

We are proud to present the ISB Primary Book Reviews, where students from across Year 3 to Year 6 share their love of reading.

At ISB, we understand the importance of reading outside of school every day and the Book Review Blogs are a fantastic tool to ensure we continue to nurture and celebrate a love of reading. These Book Review Blogs help to create a healthy community of readers and build an authentic culture of literacy, with reading at its core. Readers are celebrated and their reviews are published to the world. Peers engage, interact and encourage ongoing dialogue relating to what they have enjoyed reading.

Parents are also welcome to interact with the Book Review Blogs, further enhancing the overall reading culture.
