Chinese New Year Celebrations 🧧
This week, we have had some truly wonderful Chinese New Year celebrations, culminating in a series of fantastic performances in the Theatre. A huge thank you to all the parents who attended, it was a joy to share this special occasion with you. The event was made even more memorable by the incredible Lion Dancers from Secondary, who brought such energy and tradition to the celebration.
A very special thank you must go to our incredible Languages (MFL) team, who made the entire event possible. From choreography to rehearsals, costumes and props, decorating the Theatre, and preparing our student hosts, none of it would have happened without their hard work and dedication.
Sharing cultural experiences like this is so important, and it was fantastic to see our community come together to embrace the spirit of the festival. The sea of red and beautiful traditional Chinese attire worn by students and staff alike added to the vibrant atmosphere. Thank you all for making it such a special occasion. 👏 👏
Class Photos 📸
Next week is class photo time! Each class and year group has a designated day, and we’ve shared the schedule on Seesaw so you can check when your child’s big moment will be.
ℹ️ A quick reminder, full school uniform is required for the photos. If your child has PE or swimming that day, they can bring their kit to change into.
Parent Teacher Consultations 👥
Thank you to all parents who have signed up for next week’s Parent-Teacher Consultations. We greatly appreciate your commitment to working in partnership with us to support your child’s learning. If you haven’t yet booked or need to make any changes, there is still time over the weekend to do so via EduLink (Rec to Yr6) or by speaking to staff on Monday (PreK & Kindy). We look forward to meeting with every parent during this two-day event, where we will discuss each child’s progress in detail. During the consultations, we will also provide a comprehensive set of notes to ensure clarity on the next steps in your child’s learning journey.
ECAs next week ℹ️
Please note that all Primary school ECAs will be cancelled on Tuesday and Wednesday next week due to Parent-Teacher Consultations.
The only exceptions are:
✅ Off-site ECAs – Taekwondo & Mountain Biking
✅ Paid ECAs – Chess Coaching & Gymnastics
✅ School Production – Rehearsals will continue as per the detailed schedule already shared with cast members.
All other ECAs will not take place on these two days as staff and classrooms will be in use for the meetings.
Out & About 🚌
At ISB, we believe that real-world experiences are an essential part of a broad and balanced curriculum, bringing learning to life in meaningful ways. Even our youngest learners in Pre Kindy have been out and about, recently visiting the local shops, but this is so much more than just a simple trip. From the moment they step onto the bus with their friends, they are developing independence, social skills, and confidence. Following instructions, exploring their wider community, applying communication and language skills, and using Mathematics in a practical setting are all intentional aspects of our carefully planned provision. Similarly, our Year 3 students have visited the bank this week, gaining valuable insights into financial literacy and the role of banks in everyday life. Beyond these experiences, it is also vital that students engage with the world of work and explore potential career opportunities, broadening their understanding of the possibilities that lie ahead. These authentic learning experiences help shape their aspirations and connect their education to the world around them.
Rehearsals Underway 🎭
We are absolutely delighted that rehearsals for our upcoming production are now in full swing. The cast and crew are working their magic, bringing the world of Hari Potter (not a typo) to life with incredible dedication and enthusiasm. A huge Alohomora! to unlock our appreciation for all the staff involved, far too many to name, who are tirelessly supporting every aspect of the show, from singing, dancing, and acting to learning lines, managing backstage, and creating spellbinding costumes.
Excitement is building as we watch it all come together, and we can’t wait to see the enchantment unfold on stage. The countdown to opening night has begun, and we know it’s going to be Riddikulus-ly good! ✨
If you have any questions about any aspect of school life, please do not hesitate to message in Seesaw.
