Head of Primary Message Week 21

Home-School Partnership 💪

A huge thank you to all parents who attended our recent Parent-Teacher Consultations. Your engagement in these meetings is invaluable, and we truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and learning journey. As part of our commitment to maintaining strong communication, we are now in the process of uploading individual meeting notes into Seesaw for your reference.

Seesaw continues to be a key tool in fostering our home-school partnership, offering parents an ongoing window into their child’s learning. Teachers regularly share updates, and both they and I are always available through Seesaw messages. I make it a priority to respond to all messages as soon as possible, ensuring that communication remains open and effective.

How We Measure Attainment ✅

A common question from parents is, 'Where is my child compared to others of the same age?' In Primary, we use a 1-9 scale to quantify attainment against age-related expectations. In Early Years, we measure progress using the Early Learning Goals. These benchmarks help us track development and ensure that every child is progressing appropriately.

We also recognise that parents often seek more detailed information about what is expected of children at each age. To support this, we have published comprehensive curriculum overviews, outlining key learning objectives for each year group. These resources enable parents to track expectations and directly support the work their children do in school.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership in your child's education. Your involvement makes a tremendous difference, and we look forward to continuing to work together to support every child’s success.

In the Spotlight 🔦

As our Year 2 students continue on the pivotal journey from early education towards greater independence, we are privileged to have a team of outstanding educators guiding them. Ms Emily, Mrs Lu, and Mr Johnson are not only highly educated and experienced professionals but also absolute experts in their fields. Their dedication and expertise play a crucial role in shaping the academic and personal growth of our children.

Transitioning from the foundational stages of Early Years and Year 1, Year 2 serves as a key stepping stone, fostering a greater degree of independence before students advance to Year 3 and beyond. This period can be daunting for both parents and students, as it involves adapting to a more independent approach to learning. However, under the masterful guidance of Ms Emily, Mrs Lu, and Mr Johnson, this transition is managed with exceptional care and professionalism.

Our Year 2 curriculum is both comprehensive and engaging, covering subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Reading, Writing, and more. In Mathematics, students delve into topics like money, multiplication, division, length, height, mass, capacity, and temperature. Science lessons explore plants, light and dark, and living things and their habitats. Reading and Writing sessions are designed to enhance literacy skills through a structured phonics programme and various writing exercises.

Balancing high standards of academic rigour with the wellbeing of each student is no small feat. Our Year 2 teachers excel in creating a nurturing environment that prioritises students' wellbeing while maintaining exceptional academic standards. Their creative and innovative teaching methods ensure that learning is both effective and enjoyable.

A special thank you to Ms Emily, Mrs Lu, and Mr Johnson for their unwavering commitment and the significant impact they have on our children's development. Hats off to this fantastically creative team. 👏 👏

If you have any questions about any aspect of school life, please do not hesitate to message in Seesaw.
