Seesaw Messages 💬

Messages (like the rest of Seesaw) is available on both mobile and desktop. If you use Seesaw on mobile, we would like to kindly ask that you update your Seesaw app on those devices (iOS, Android) so that you may fully take advantage of these latest improvements.

We’re looking forward to staying connected and nurturing our relationships throughout the year, and believe Seesaw Messages will play an important role in this endeavour.

✅ Students 💬

You have a Messages icon in the top left of your screen.

Tap the Messages icon to read any messages sent to you, or to search for your teacher and send them a message.

You will see a red notification bubble by the Messages icon when you have one or more unread messages.

✅ Parents & Family Members 💬

When logged into Seesaw as a family member or using the Seesaw App, you will see a Messages icon in the top left of your screen. Tap the Messages icon to send and view messages.

Using Messages, you can initiate private or group messages with:

• any school administrator

• your child's teachers in the school

• other family member(s) connected to your student only (you cannot message the family members of other students)

🔐 Student Safety in Seesaw Messages

Learn how Seesaw Messages puts student safety first. 

In addition, please review the Messages Code of Conduct, which applies to all Messages users.

Teachers facilitate the student experience of Messages.

Seesaw does not allow for student-student or student-family messaging without a teacher or administrator in the conversation. 

Administrators customise and manage Messages settings.

Administrators customise settings to decide what roles (e.g. admin, teacher, family member, student) can engage in private messaging based on the communication needs of their school community and to comply with their school and district policies. 

Messages includes Administrator oversight.

Administrators are able to view all messages between members of their school.

Teachers and administrators manage messages and participants.

Conversation owners can block and remove messages and participants from threads if necessary. 

Messages are secure.

Seesaw uses security industry best practices to ensure your messages are secure.
